The Dress That Taught Me Two Lessons {Workwear Wednesday}

With the dress I’m sharing with you today, I can teach two very crucial thrift shopping lessons: look around EVERYWHERE and try on EVERYTHING.

That’s right.

Look in all of the sections, grab lots and lots of items and try it all on. Don’t neglect the men’s and children’s sections and all those other miscellaneous areas you generally don’t peruse.

Because if I wouldn’t have stopped by the men’s dress shirt section one fateful, warm July night at Amvets, I never would have found this gorgeous, bold dress.

The beautiful red color caught my eye first, so I made a beeline for it and was thrilled to find this brand new Talbots dress for $5.

But, it wasn’t my size. Close to it, but not exactly. Plus I had never worn peplum (or even thought about wearing it) until I found this dress back in the summer at Goodwill. I hesitated, but decided I should at least try it on.

  1. Oh my word. This dress is made for you! The peplum is at just the right spot and it hugs your curves so well.

    People put stuff everywhere when thrifting and it’s not like a retail store where they go back and tidy things up all the time. What a gem!
