It’s been way too long since I shared a DIY project but I’m back at it with today’s easy and fun project!
I don’t quite remember how I decided that I *needed* some wire headbands, but a few days and Pinterest searches later, I stumbled across this tutorial for three ways to make these no-sew creations.
I chose three fabrics from JoAnn Fabrics, two of which are polka dot (shocker). The other is a cute yellow print with eyeballs. Because when I stray from polka dots, I choose eyeballs?!
The materials you will need are:
- Fabric of choice (I cut mine 40 inches X 4 inches)
- Permanent fabric adhesive
- Duct tape
- Wire (I used 18 gauge)
- Bobby pins
- Tape measure
- Fabric pins
This YouTube tutorial was perfect! Super straightforward 🙂
The only time I had difficulties during the process was with my permanent fabric adhesive. I thought I had bought the wrong adhesive because my fabric would not stick together, but it turns out it just takes a long time to dry. As the video above suggests, use some cheap bobby pins to hold your headband in place while it dries.
Needless to say, I’m thrilled with my new headbands. I’m hoping these will motivate me to wear my hair up more. They also have a retro vibe that I adore!
You can even use the headband to make a bun! Twist the ends together, put all your hair in between, wrap toward your head and bend into a bun shape 🙂 My sister models the bun here:
My next goal is to make some wider versions of this headband like these ones. So cute!
Please let me know or tag me on social media if you make yourself a wire headband! I’d love to see your creation 🙂
